Emily Lubanko is an illustrator and designer living and working in the Boston area. She grew up in the cloudy marshlands of New England. After graduating with a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, she has since worked for various clients including Hasbro, Zynga, Golden Horn records, PixelJam Games, and many others. Professionally, she has worked as a concept artist, 3d modeler/texturer, graphic designer, and both traditional and digital illustrator. She currently works freelance and also teaches digital art at Montserrat College of Art in MA.
Her current body of work is stretched between smaller personal projects and the creation of a fully-illustrated 78-card tarot deck. Each card embodies heavy metaphor and symbolism repurposed, rethought, made personal for an inclusive and intense tarot-reading experience. She works both digitally and traditionally—in Photoshop, ink, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, or whatever is on hand.
Both her tarot and other works approach themes of global myths, power structures and relationships—societal and personal, queerness, the subconscious, and cycles of nature. Visit Emily Lubanko at, and on Twitter @emilylubanko.
